2022 Volkswagen ID.4 GTX

Volkswagen’s equivalent of a GTI spec for their electric ID.4 is called the GTX, a higher performing dual motor offering. The GTI badge is one of the most iconic in the automotive world, known for it’s tell-tale design of a red stripe up front with tartan seats inside. It remains unknown if Volkswagen will eventually release a GTI badged version of their electric cars, but for now we have the closest thing, the GTX.

Thanks to the use of dual electric motors placed on both the front and rear axles which provides drive to all the wheels, the ID.4 GTX gets a nice power boost of 95 hp. The new power totals 295 hp which helps to shave off 2.3 seconds from the 0-62 mph acceleration time that now clocks in at 6.2 seconds for the 4,850+ lb car.

Visually the GTX gets some minor changes, but with no red stripes of honeycomb mesh to be seen the overall look is very similar to the base model ID.4 and will likely blend in with the rest of the compact to mid-sized SUV’s on the road.
