2017 Tesla Model X

Tesla Motors have entered the SUV market with the Model X, the third car from the manufacturer which maintains the all electric propulsion the brand is known for. In the top P100D trim, dual electric motors are used both front and rear utilising all-wheel drive and combining for 610 PS (449 kW) and a massive 713 lb-ft (966 Nm) of torque. 0-62 mph is quoted at 3.2 seconds, a time that is class leading and puts some supercars to shame. Even more impressive is the inclusion of Ludicrous mode, which has been made available via a software update. This allows the Model X to complete the same sprint in just 2,9 seconds.

Due to the more flexible packaging requirements of the electric drivetrain, Tesla has been able to give the Model X tighter proportions when compared to it’s rivals in the SUV segment. This allows for more interior space with less exterior size, helping keep the size of the Model X down and making maneuverability easier. Continuing that theme are the falcon wing rear doors, which open up in a motorised motion using sensors to detect potential obstacles. This allows for easier entry and exit from the car when in tight parking conditions.
