Description
Marketed as the Legacy GT, Legacy B4 or Liberty GT, Subaru’s performance version of it’s family sedan combined the companies well known symmetrical all-wheel drive with a turbocharged boxer engine. That engine was a version of the one found in the fan favorite Subaru Impreza WRX. Different versions of the engine were used depending on the market it was sold, with a 2.0L and a 2.5L used.
The 2005 Legacy GT replaced the previous 3rd generation B4 model which utilised a twin turbo setup. For this 4th generation Subaru opted for a single twin scroll turbo due to rising emission concerns. Transmission options came in the form of a 5-speed semi-automatic, 5-speed manual or a 6-speed manual found in the Tuned by STI version.
