Description
Rolling in style, Roll-Royce have unveiled their all new second generation Ghost. Following up on the controversial first generation Ghost which used BMW underpinnings and was not considered a true Roller this new version has been based off the same chassis as the Cullinan SUV and flagship Phantom. It is set to rival both the new Bentley Flying Spur and the upcoming Mercedes-Maybach S-class.
With any new Roller refinement and comfort are key focus points for the company, with the new Ghost continuing that trend. An all new suspension setup has been developed comprising with a mix of air springs and adaptive dampers, with the front utilising an extra set of dampers on the upper wishbones. The road-scanning functionality that scans the road ahead to adjust each corner individually for the smoothest ride possible has been overhauled for the new Ghost, improving it’s performance across the board.
The usual Rolls-Royce 6.75L V12 engine has been to put to work here, developing 571 PS (420 kW) of power and a huge 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque which is available from very low 1,600 rpm. An eight-speed ZF automatic transmission feeds all that torque to the all-wheel-drive system and helps the V12 propel the 2,490 kilograms Ghost from 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds.
