2018 Nissan Leaf Nismo RC Concept

Built by Nissan’s racing arm NISMO, the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC Concept unveiled in Tokyo, is an all-electric racing car set to inspire a new generation of racing car fans. With no plans to actually race the Leaf Nismo RC, Nissan sees this concept as an important part of setting the trend towards electric cars involved in racing. Especially with the brands involvement in the Formula E series.

Nismo have taken the normal pedestrian electric Leaf road car and given it some extra beans. 2 electric motors rated at 163 PS (120 kW) each, combine in an all-wheel drive setup to create a 326 PS (240 kW) powertrain with 472 lb-ft (640 Nm) of torque on tap. All this extra power will result in 0-100 kph acceleration of 3.4 seconds, making the Leaf Nismo RC 50% quicker than the regular Leaf model. Under the highly revised bodywork, the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC uses a bespoke carbon fiber chassis helping the racer to tip the scales at only 2,690 lbs (1,220 kg). An impressive feat considering the weight of the lithium-ion battery pack and electric motors.
