2025 McLaren W1

McLaren’s new W1 1,200+ hp hypercar has been revealed as the successor to the mighty P1. Featuring a plug-in hybrid powertrain that includes a twin turbocharged 4.0L flat-plane crank V8 engine which makes 916 hp on its own, and a mid-mounted electric motor that makes a further 342 hp and is positioned to the side of the transmission. In total the system manages 1,258 hp and 988 lb-ft of torque. The combination of an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic and the e-motors mounting enables torque to be fed into the transmission downstream of the clutches. This allows for all the torque from both motors to be accessed together. The W1 will take 2.7 seconds to reach 62 mph from rest, 5.8 seconds to reach 124 mph, and 12.7 seconds to reach 186 mph, and go onwards to a governed top speed of 217 mph.
