2018 McLaren Senna GTR Concept

McLaren is previewing a track only version of their Senna supercar, promising it will have more power, more downforce and offer a very exclusive track day experience. Power is expected increase to at least 814 horsepower from the 4.0L twin turbocharged V8, with torque remaining about the same as the regular Senna. The weight of the Senna GTR concept is roughly unchanged, with McLaren aiming to reduce it further for the proper version when it is released in 2019. 75 examples are due to be constructed.

The elements that make the GTR a track only car are the slick Pirelli tyres, revised suspension and wider tracks, a new wheel design and updated aero package. Downforce is set to rival that of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, with up to 1,000 kg of downforce being generated by the car. All this should ensure a huge amount of grip available for the driver to maximize speed around any track in the world.

“Excelling on the track underpins the heritage of the McLaren brand and is as important and relevant today as it has ever been,” explained Mike Flewitt. “The track-only McLaren Senna GTR will have more power, more grip and more downforce – up to 1,000kg – than the McLaren Senna and post even faster lap times; the very limited number of customers who secure this car will be buying the closest experience you can get to a race car without actually lining up on a circuit grid.”
