2021 Kia K5 GT

Out with the Optima and in with the K5, meet Kia’s new mid-sized all-wheel drive, turbocharged sedan. Using the all new N3 platform, the Kia K5 GT will takes it’s place at the top of the K5 tree, with a 2.5L turbo engine and all-wheel drive setup. The new platform is longer, lower and wider than previously, reducing the cars center of gravity and increasing it’s handling profile.

The K5 features a bold new styling trend for Kia, with a modernised take on the ‘tiger face’ front facia. The daytime running lights have taken on a shape similar to a heart beat on a heart rate monitor, with the light strip crossing the length of the headlight and dancing up the side and spilling up over the front fenders following the line of the hood. The front grille retains the shape that Kia’s have worn for years, but this time it’s narrower and nearly extends the entire width of the car. The rear end make use of a full width light bar, quad exhaust pipes and small lip spoiler in the rear deck.

Engine options will include two turbocharged units with the GT model’s 2.5L producing 290 PS (213 kW) of power and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) of torque. That will be coupled with an 8-speed “wet” dual clutch transmission, which Kia is quoting will help the K5 GT reach 0-60 mph in just 5.8 seconds.
