2019 Jaguar I-Pace

18 months after the I-Pace Concept, Jaguar have begun their electric assault with the launch of the new I-Pace equipped with a 90 kWh battery and a range of 298 miles. Two electric motors are used for each axle producing a combined 394 hp and 514 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration is an impressive 4.8 seconds to 100 kph, even with its heavy kerb weight of over 2.1 tonnes. The top speed is limited to 124 mph.

The concept car good looks have remained mostly intact, which is quite a feat these days, with Jaguar delivering a smart looking car. Developed from the ground up as an all-electric vehicle, the I-Pace utilises some impressive packaging to make the most the extra space provided by the electric drivetrain. The interior space is equal to that of the F-Pace SUV, but on a car with the footprint of the Jaguar XE.

The I-Pace is an important step for Jaguar, as it solidifies the company as an early adopter of the forth coming age of electric cars. Not only that, but the I-Pace is the one of the first mainstream cars to challenge the dominance of Tesla in the all-electric market. With most of the big manufacturers still a couple years away from making their mark in this growing market space, Jaguar has already placed themselves as a one of the leaders in the exciting world of EV’s.
