2018 Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept

The new fastback sedan Q Inspiration Concept by Infiniti, sets its sights on bridging the gap between present and future technologies with a new variable compression turbocharged engine.

The VC-Turbo engine is a 4 cylinder turbocharged unit that is compact in design and delivers the power of a larger V6 engine with the torque and efficiency of an advanced turbocharged 4 cylinder diesel engine. This is achieved through a new technology that allows the VC-Turbo to changes its compression ratio seamlessly, continuously raising or lowering the pistons’ reach to transform the compression ratio. This approach means that a higher compression ratio of 14:1 is used for high efficiency and when greater power and torque are needed, the engine will lower its compression down to 8:1. The concept also uses Nissans new ProPILOT semi-autonomous driving technology that acts as a co-pilot for the driver promising to liberate the driver from mundane and stressful driving situations.
