2019 Genesis Mint Concept

Hyundai’s luxury arm Genesis, has presented their electric premium two-seater city car concept at the 2019 New York auto show. The design was guided by Luc Donckerwolke and features sharp styling with short front and rear overhangs, large concept car wheels and the usual nowhere near production spec cognac leather clad interior. The core idea behind the Mint Concept is to show that luxury can come in a small city car form factor, and is not limited to just large saloons and SUVs.

The electric powertrain is unknown at this point with Genesis claiming a range of around 200 miles per charge, which would be very good for a car of this size. One feature of the Genesis Mint Concept is the rear boot setup. Not content with a regular hatch or boot lid mechanism, the Mint makes do with a large parcel shelf that is accessed by two scissoring panels on both sides of the car. These panels form the rear three quarters of the car including the rear wheel arches and rear windows.
