Description

Ferrari has just unleashed its new flagship F80 supercar, the successor to the LaFerrari, and the most powerful road-going Ferrari ever. About every decade or so, Ferrari decide to launch a new halo car, and the F80 joins a long list of Ferrari halos car like the F40, F50, Enzo and or course the most recent one, the LaFerrari. Its name celebrates Ferrariā€™s upcoming 80th birthday, and it features elements from the companies Le Mans and Formula 1 teams.

Utilising a twin turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine that shares the same block as the Le Mans-winning 499P racer, it alone produces 888 hp at 8,750 rpm, giving it an awesome 296 hp per litre of performance. Ferrari have fitted that V6 with both an MGU-K and MGU-H system right out of their F1 program to recover energy from the electric motors and help keep the small 2.28 kWh battery charged. In all, three electric motors have been fitted to the F80, a main one in the back and two located on the front axle. Combined, total system output is rated at 1,184 hp, good enough that when combined with the all-wheel drive system to launch the F80 from standstill to 62 mph in only 2.15 seconds.
