Description
In a bid to claim the Nurburgring lap record for EV’s, Xiaomi have unveiled the 1,500+ hp SU7 Ultra Prototype. Built as a racing-inspired Ultra version of the SU7 electric sedan, Xiaomi have fitted a tri-motor configuration that combines for a total power figure of 1,527 hp. It will accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 1.97 seconds, 0 to 124 mph in 5.96 seconds, and go on to a top speed of over 217 mph.
Around 500 kilograms have been shed from the road going sedan through the use of carbon-fibre body panels, lightweight composite and aluminium components, and a stripped-out interior. Thanks to the additions of a big rear wing, front splitter and rear diffuser, the SU7 Ultra can produce 2,145 kg of downforce at 350 kph, which is more than the car’s weight. A toned-down production version is expected in 2025.
